Just by wearing a set of transparent braces, you can gradually align your misaligned teeth. Because it is aesthetically pleasing and convenient, invisible orthodontics has become the first choice for many celebrities, white-collar workers, and beauty-conscious young ladies and gentlemen to correct their teeth.
So for friends who have just entered the invisible orthodontic circle, how should they take off, put on and maintain their invisible orthodontic appliances during the orthodontic process? What issues should be noted again?
Wear:
Please clean your hands before wearing the orthodontic appliance. This is something that many beginners and even "veterans" overlook. Remember: Illness enters through the mouth.
- Before wearing the orthodontic appliance, confirm the number of steps taken and the upper and lower jaws. There are markings on the orthodontic appliance. "U" represents the upper dental arch, "L" represents the lower dental arch, and the numbers indicate the number of steps.
- Wearing principles: For those with no obvious misalignment of the back teeth, when wearing, start from either the upper or lower jaw orthodontic appliance at will. First, gently press the appliance to position the front teeth, and then evenly press the back teeth area with your fingertips to position it. For those with obvious misalignment of the back teeth, start wearing from the misaligned side first, then move from back to front and then to the other side.
Notes:
- Do not position the orthodontic appliance by biting, as this may cause damage to the appliance. If there is a slight mismatch in the local area, you can bite a medical cotton roll or a bit of glue on that part to assist in positioning the appliance. Also, develop the habit of "massaging" the accessory area of the appliance to make it fit better.
When wearing a new orthodontic appliance for the first time, it is normal for teeth to feel tightened or pressured. The force will weaken as the wearing time increases.
- If you feel sharp pain or discomfort, please contact a doctor in time.
Excerpt:
- Upper jaw: Use your fingers to hold the edge of the orthodontic appliance on the inner side of the back teeth (i.e., the palatine side), and gently pull it down. Alternate between the two sides until it comes out of the teeth.
- Jaw: Use your fingers to hold the edge of the orthodontic appliance on the outer side of the back teeth (i.e., the buccal side), and gently push it upwards. Alternate between the two sides until it comes out of the tooth.
Notes:
If the orthodontic appliance is found to be damaged or deformed; Accessories fall off or wear out; When wearing orthodontic appliances causes damage to the oral mucosa, please contact your doctor in time.
Time:
It must also be worn when sleeping. Wear braces for at least 22 hours every day.
- Bite the glue evenly at each position for at least 20 minutes every day.
- Each orthodontic appliance should be worn for 12 weeks.
- Each set of orthodontic appliances must be in perfect contact with the tooth surface. Replace the next set only when you feel weak (please follow the doctor's advice for the specific replacement time).
- Retain the orthodontic appliance from the previous step of the current orthodontic step count.
Notes:
It is recommended to replace the orthodontic appliance before going to bed.
- If you cannot wear it as scheduled for orthodontic treatment, please inform your doctor promptly.
- Other auxiliary devices should be used strictly in accordance with the doctor's advice.
Braces cleaning
Before and after each wear, please clean the orthodontic appliance. You can use a soft-bristled toothbrush to clean it under running water. In the morning upon waking up and before going to bed at night, you can add a small amount of toothpaste to clean it to reduce the unpleasant smell of the braces. Water at room temperature is fine. It is not advisable to use water that is too hot or too cold.
- The cleaning of the outer surface of the orthodontic appliance can be done while it is worn inside the mouth, and it is very easy to scrub. The inner side can be removed and cleaned.
Notes:
After each cleaning of the orthodontic appliance, please make sure to rinse it thoroughly and remove any excess water.
- Do not use denture cleaning products, mouthwash, hot water or disinfectant to soak and clean the orthodontic appliance. Such products may damage or stain the orthodontic appliance.
Braces storage:
Store the orthodontic appliance in two dry and clean small boxes. One small box stores the orthodontic appliance currently worn, and the other keeps the orthodontic appliance that has been used recently.
- The current orthodontic appliance must be worn during the follow-up visit.
Notes:
Remove the orthodontic appliance when eating or drinking. (Except for water at normal temperature)
- Please keep the orthodontic appliance away from children and pets.
Oral hygiene
Brush your teeth twice a day, in the morning and evening, using the bass brushing method to clean all tooth surfaces. The brushing time should be more than 3 minutes.
- Use dental floss and interdental brushes to clean the Spaces between your teeth.
- Please brush your teeth and floss before wearing orthodontic appliances after each meal. If it is not possible to brush teeth in time, you can simply rinse your mouth and thoroughly rinse the orthodontic appliance with running water, but this is not the best way to clean.
Diet
During the period of wearing invisible braces, we suggest that "braces students" do not smoke or consume foods and beverages that can cause discoloration of the braces, such as curry, strong tea, coffee and other beverages. This is mainly to prevent tooth decay and pigmentation.
